Joan at age 16 had gone to school for dog grooming and pet shop management and later got an education in dog training. By the age o f 19 she owned her own dog grooming shop and continued successfully for 16 years.

Joan and Gloria Yvonne met in 1994 where they worked in the grooming business together for 2 years. And then they joined forces on their crusade of saving as many babies as possible.

 

When we met, we both had dogs. We had a lot in common when it came to putting them first. She had 4 small babies and I had 1 large one. “Atlas” was our only one of 5 that was over 15 pounds. So we adopted our first one together to be a playmate for him. Then, It seemed like there was always room for 1 more.

One by one we would see an abused, neglected or abandoned baby that needed us. What a rewarding feeling you get every time you look into their eyes. How thankful they are to know they are safe in your loving home. Our hearts feel for the sweet sole in each and every one of them. We went from 5 babies to 13 and at times we had up to 15 dogs plus many other animals.

We’ve rescued other animals like cats, birds, rabbits, chickens, roosters, ducks and ferrets. Every baby deserves a chance to be loved. This is our ”commitment for life.”
